June 2022 saw a 10.75% decline in overall hiring activity compared to May 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 25.8% share of total industry hiring activity in June 2022, down 0.16% from the average share for the past three months.
Software and website developers, programmers and testers Leading occupations by classification in June 2022
The professions of software and website developers, programmers and testers have become the main IT profession in South and Central America with a share of 64.8% in June 2022, a decrease of 33.63% compared to to the previous month. IT and information analysts came next, claiming an 11.05% share in June 2022, marking a 25.74% month-on-month decline. In third place were database and network administrators and architects with a share of 8.69% in June 2022, down 37.23% from May 2022.
The various IT occupations recorded a share of 7.36% in June 2022, down 24.24% from the previous month.
Top five tech companies in IT recruitment activity in South and Central America as of June 2022
The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 40.08% in overall South and Central America tech industry IT hiring activity in June 2022 compared to the previous month.
International Business Machines posted 132 IT jobs in June 2022 and was down 50.56% from the previous month, followed by Accenture with 81 jobs and growth of 2.53%. Wipro with 37 IT jobs and DXC Technology with 29 jobs, saw a drop of 21.28% and a drop of 44.23%, respectively, while Delivery Hero saw a drop of 57.97% with 29 jobs. employment in June 2022.
Composition by country of IT hiring in the South and Central America technology industry
Brazil topped the region’s tech industry IT recruitment activity with a 48.9% share in June 2022, down 30.25% from May 2022. Costa Rica was next with a share of 13.25%, down 15.89% from the previous month. Argentina recorded a share of 12.67%, a decrease of 23.89% compared to May 2022.
Junior-level job openings dominate in June 2022
Junior-level jobs held a share of 71.13%, down 32.26% from May 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 17.53%, saw a decline of 20.67 % compared to the previous month.
In third place were entry-level vacancies with 11.05% market share, down 44.85% from May 2022, while senior vacancies accounted for 0.29%, registering stable month-on-month growth.
