China’s tech industry saw a 6.0% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 from the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
Overall industry hiring increased 2.42% in August 2022 compared to July 2022.
Of the total tech industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.72% share in August 2022, down 2.02% from the average share for the past three months.
Top Five Job Classifications in China’s Tech Industry IT Recruitment Activity in August 2022
Of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for 98.98% of China’s tech industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in August 2022.
1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 59.37% in August 2022, registering a growth of 10% compared to the previous month.
2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 19.25%, an increase of 8.62% from the previous month.
3) IT support specialists held a share of 11.91%, registering an increase of 25.81% compared to July 2022.
4) Computer and information analysts captured a 4.38% share, up 48.28% from the previous month.
Top Five Tech Companies in China’s IT Recruitment Activity as of August 2022
The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 20.13% in overall Chinese tech industry IT recruitment activity in August 2022 compared to July 2022.
Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson posted 211 IT jobs in August 2022 and was down 1.4% from the previous month, followed by Applied Materials with 57 jobs and growth of 9.62%. Microsoft with 42 IT jobs and Koninklijke Philips with 37 jobs, saw a 12.5% decline and 825% growth, respectively, while Citrix Systems saw steady growth with 35 job openings in August 2022.
Junior-level job openings dominate in August 2022
Junior-level jobs held a share of 71.49%, up 18.58% from July 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 17.21%, saw an increase of 6.29 % compared to the previous month.
In third place were entry-level vacancies with 11.2% market share, down 7.56% from July 2022, while senior vacancies accounted for 0.1%, registering stable month-on-month growth.
