IT recruitment activity in German tech industry drops 3.6% in May 2022

Germany’s tech industry saw a 3.6% decline in IT hiring activity in May 2022 compared to the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

Overall industry hiring was down 3.15% in May 2022 compared to April 2022.

Of the total tech industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 12.33% share in May 2022, registering a 0.09% increase from the average share for the past three months.

Top five job classifications in the German tech industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Of the total number of job titles, the top five positions accounted for 96.17% of the German tech industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in May 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 64.39% in May 2022, registering a decrease of 9.79% compared to the previous month.

2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 11.31%, down 27.66% from the previous month.

3) Computer and information analysts held a 10.82% share, down 28.57% from April 2022.

4) Miscellaneous IT occupations captured a 5.66% share, down 46.03% from the prior month.

Top five tech companies in IT recruitment activity in Germany in May 2022

The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 6.86% in share of overall German tech industry IT recruitment activity in May 2022 compared to April 2022.

SAP posted 51 IT jobs in May 2022 and grew 27.5% from the previous month, followed by Embracer Group with 45 jobs and growth of 2.27%. Deutsche Telekom with 35 IT jobs and Atos with 32 jobs, saw a 10.26% drop and a 15.79% drop, respectively, while Wipro saw a 71.43% increase with 24 job offers. employment in May 2022.

Junior-level job openings dominate in May 2022

Junior-level jobs held a share of 71.38%, down 15.22% from April 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 18.97%, saw a decline of 20.28 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level vacancies with 8.99% market share, down 34.15% from April 2022, while senior vacancies accounted for 0.67%, recording a monthly decline of 33.33%.
