India’s tech industry saw a 19.2% decline in hiring activity in the IT sector in March 2022 compared to the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
Overall industry hiring was down 12.11% in March 2022 compared to February 2022.
Of the total tech industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 54.21% share in March 2022, down 6.86% from the average share for the last three months.
Top Five Job Classifications in Indian Tech Industry IT Recruitment Activity in March 2022
Out of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for a share of 101.36% of the overall IT recruitment activity of the Indian tech industry in March 2022.
1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 84.53% in March 2022, registering a decrease of 21.87% compared to the previous month.
2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a 5.92% share, down 25.51% from the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous IT occupations held a 4.12% share, down 10.6% from February 2022.
4) Computer and information analysts captured a 4.08% share, up 42.28% from the previous month.
Top Five Tech Companies in IT Recruitment Activity in India as of March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 15.28% in the share of the Indian tech industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in March 2022 compared to February 2022.
Accenture posted 7,571 IT jobs in March 2022 and grew by 28.56% from the previous month, followed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone with 1,308 jobs and growth of 6.43%. International Business Machines with 1,242 IT jobs and Capgemini with 401 jobs, saw a decline of 75.08% and growth of 20.06% respectively, while Wipro saw a decline of 11.88% with 356 job offers. employment in March 2022.
Mid-level job openings dominate in March 2022
Mid-level jobs held a share of 54.05%, down 15.42% from February 2022. Junior-level positions, with a share of 35.18%, saw a decline of 31.54 % compared to the previous month.
In third place were entry-level vacancies with 10.36% market share, up 4.34% from February 2022, while senior vacancies accounted for 0.41%, recording a monthly decline of 64.71%.
