IT recruitment activity in the UK tech industry increases by 1.1% in March 2022

The UK tech industry saw a 1.1% increase in IT hiring activity in March 2022 compared to the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

Overall industry hiring increased 1.29% in March 2022 compared to February 2022.

Of the total tech industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 26.63% share in March 2022, down 0.16% from the average share for the last three months.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s tech industry IT recruitment activity in March 2022

Of the total number of job titles, the top five roles accounted for 98.84% of the UK tech industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in March 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 65.76% in March 2022, registering a growth of 6.57% compared to the previous month.

2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a share of 11.13%, down 13.79% from the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous IT occupations held a share of 9.57%, recording a decline of 33.23% from February 2022.

4) IT Support Specialists captured a 7.21% share, up 25.58% from the previous month.

Top five tech companies in UK IT recruitment activity in March 2022

The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 10.78% in share of overall UK tech industry IT recruitment activity in March 2022 compared to compared to February 2022.

Capgemini posted 232 IT jobs in March 2022 and recorded a decrease of 11.79% compared to the previous month, followed by Jacobs Engineering Group with 137 jobs and a growth of 197.83%. Comcast with 135 IT jobs and Accenture with 92 jobs, saw declines of 7.53% and growth of 55.93%, respectively, while BT Group saw declines of 19.1% with 72 job openings. employment in March 2022.

Junior-level job openings dominate in March 2022

Junior-level jobs held a share of 67.99%, up 0.2% from February 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 20.53%, saw a decline of 2.54 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level job advertisements with 9.97% market share, down 16.1% from February 2022, while senior job advertisements accounted for 1.51%, registering a monthly increase of 13.33%.
